Tips To Prevent Oral Cancer


Among the different forms of cancer, oral cancer is one that can be totally avoided with some care and knowledge about the factors that lead to it. We will check all the factors that cause oral cancer and look at treatment options you have in India.


What causes oral cancer?
Oral or mouth cancer can happen in any part of the mouth. Commonly this form of cancer is observed on the tongue, in the lips, cheeks, gums, roof or/and floor of the mouth, in the tonsils, and the salivary glands. General trends of oral cancer point to the fact that men, especially above the age of 40 are susceptible to it. Women and younger men are comparatively at lesser risk, but they are vulnerable to it nonetheless.

Primary causes of mouth cancer are following, but not limited to:


Heavy alcohol consumption
: Heavy consumption of alcohol increases the risks of alcohol. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is an American organization, if a woman consumes more than 8 drinks per week she will be considered a heavy drinker. For men anything above 14 drinks per week is in the heavy drinker territory.  By Indian standards, most men consume more than 15 drinks in one day on occasions! If you love your alcohol, it time you did some research and cut down on excess consumption.

Taking Snuff, Chewing Tobacco: Chewing tobacco, scented or otherwise regularly causes oral cancer. Tobacco in any form is carcinogenic. Stop consuming tobacco products without delay to reduce your risks of developing cancer.

Oral cancer treatment

If you observe discomfort in chewing, swallowing or moving your jaw, or if you see red patches on your lips, it could be signs of oral cancer. Immediately see a doctor for treatment.
